Research & Development


In addition to commercial superconducting linacs, Niowave also has an active research and development department.

The research and development effort is capable of designing, building and testing first generation superconducting devices for a variety of applications.

This includes superconducting cavities using radio frequency microwaves for acceleration, superconducting magnetic shields and superconducting magnets.

Our superconducting devices have been successfully tested for:

  • the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN
  • the US Navy Free Electron Laser program
  • the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) at Brookhaven National Laboratory
  • the National Synchrotron Light Source II (NSLS-II) at Brookhaven National Laboratory
  • the International Linear Collider (ILC)
  • Daresbury Laboratory (UK)
  • Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB)
  • Project-X (Fermi National Laboratory)
  • Naval Postgraduate School
  • Los Alamos National Laboratory
  • Helmholz Center-Berlin for Materials and Energy (Germany)
